1 - Taking the A4 till Amarante,
proceed on the IP4 about 3Km,
following then the road to "Mesão Frio" and "Peso da Régua" (N 101). Arriving
there, follow the signs to "Pinhão", crossing the bridge over the Douro River and driving in the beautiful road by the river (EN 222)*, till the small town of Pinhão. Cross all the town and at the
very end take the road nº 222-3 direction "Favaios" and "Alijó".
About 500m after leaving Pinhão
on the right side, you will find the
road to Casal de Loivos.
(7kms always up on a, sometimes,
unreal scenery).
*The Road 222 is beeing repaired right now so we suggest the two following itineraries
2 - Taking all the same the A4,
proceed on the IP4 till Vila Real, leave
the IP4, and get inside of the town.
Once there look for the signs
to "Sabrosa"(N322) and from there
to "Pinhão" and "Casal de Loivos".
3 - If you choose this route, take again the A4 and IP4 and, about 20 minutes after passing Vila Real (without entering the town); you will find a sign to "Vª Pª
de Aguiar" and "Alijó". Obeying these indications and the following ones, in 30 minutes you will arrive in Alijó. Then, follow the road to Favaios, and then
to Pinhão, and from there to Casal de Loivos, as instructions on former routes.
The road from Casal de Loivos is under construction, so, we suggest that after leaving Pinhão, you continue on the road EN 222-3 until you find a sign pointing right to “Vlo. de Cotas.” It is a small road going up the hill during 4kms and you will reach another sign indicating “Casal de Loivos 2kms”. Following that sign you will arrive to this small village, and, after a short while to Casa de Casal de Loivos.
