The house

The house's history

One of the most amazing views of the Douro Valley, in a family manor house, is what you will find at Casa de Casal de Loivos, in the heart of the oldest demarcated wine region in the world and a UNESCO world heritage site. With its origins in the seventeenth century and in the Pereira de Sampayo family since 1733, the house has been adapted for tourism, opening to the public in 1991 by the hand and vision of Manuel de Sampayo, guardian of the family tradition.

Space

The meandering road that leads from the village of Pinhão to the house ends up on the top of a hill overseeing the Douro river. As soon as you enter Casa de Casal de Loivos, you will be stunned by the unique view that can be appreciated both from the terrace, the pool and the rooms, bathed by the sun all day long.

Apart from the stunning view (once considered by the BBC as one of the six most beautiful views in the world!), Casa de Casal de Loivos is also a beautiful historic place, full of details, hidden stories and intriguing facts that have been kept from one generation to the next and that are kindly shared with the guests by the family.
